Adventurous Minds believe that learning to face challenges is character forming and will give children great experiences that will last for life. Our EOTC programmes incorporate active learning in an adventure-based environment.

We are specialists in outdoor education and can assist with your school’s EOTC programme to whatever level is desired. Our staff are fully versed in the current legal requirements, recommendations and guidelines that all New Zealand schools are advised to follow to ensure safe student learning.

We facilitate activities such as abseiling, kayaking and bush skills, as well as assisting and supervising with all other camp activities. You will be safe with the knowledge that you have highly skilled and trained experts in outdoor adventure education at your school camp or programme.

We will meet to discuss your school’s requirements and objectives and provide a complete EOTC package, ensuring safety, risk management, best practice obligations and educational outcomes are met.

Residential EOTC Camps
We currently facilitate 3-5 day residential camps for various schools and organisations at a number of different venues throughout New Zealand. We create and facilitate a full camp package for your school or class, including a complete itinerary, planned menu, relevant RAMS forms and experienced on-site staff at all times.

We also facilitate multi-day expeditions. These hiking adventures can include navigation, survival, bushcraft, river safety, abseiling, kayaking, surfing, flora & fauna studies (including traditional Maori use), conservation issues and leadership techniques. All with a strong focus on building the team.

We are happy to meet and discuss your camp aims and objectives in order to design a programme to suit your needs.







EOTC Day Excursions
We can provide day experiences for your school or class at various venues around the Bay of Plenty, or at school. We currently offer the following options, but are happy to discuss your requirements and design a programme to suit:

Mini Camp

A full day of adventures!  Remove yourself from shops, traffic and cell-phones to challenge your mind, body and team in a secluded native forest location.  Float down a river in a tube or learn to kayak, race in the team raft challenge and test your nerves on the flying fox!  Activities can include: Flying Fox, Abseiling, High & Low Ropes, Confidence Course, Tubing, Swimming & Jumping Holes, Kayaking, Hiking.

** Mini Camp day excursions can be extended to an overnight stay to include glow-worm walks, Burma trails and night games.


A Day In The Kaimais
Spend a day in the Kaimai-Mamaku Forest park, admiring our spectacular native forest on one of our guided walks.  Learn about New Zealand's natural environment, our local history and basic bush survival skills.  Hike to a secluded waterfall or towering stand of Kauri trees.  Play adventure-based teamwork games and listen to our inspirational stories and legends.  Activities can include: Hiking, adventure-based learning, maori myths & legends, traditional use of plants, bushcraft, survival, navigation, Kauri & waterfall walks, natural heritage & conservation, river safety, flora & fauna studies.


Adventure Based Learning

Inject some adventure and fun into the school day!!  We have a variety of adventure-based games and activities that will inspire confidence, team work and communication!  We can take you off-site to various locations, or we can vist you on-site at school.


Sand & Surf

Have fun in the sand and surf at a spectacular local beach.  Learn to ride the waves with our experienced surf lifeguard, explore coastal cliffs by hiking, abseiling or horse riding, and have fun playing games in the sand.  Combine the fun with some hands-on dune conservation! 


Te Puna Abseiling

Explore the world class park of Te Puna Quarry, where an impressive restoration project has taken place.  This park is designed as a place of nature, international gardens, stunning views and artwork.  Challenge your fears on the impressive abseiling site, wander the park and participate in team-building, adventure-based games.  Activities can include: Advanced abseiling, team building games, local history, nature & art walks, adventure-based learning.

Discovering Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.

Creating tomorrow’s leaders is the aim of our Leadership Programme.  We foster student's leadership skills through team building activities and self-development so they will then be able to utilise their new skills to benefit their school and the wider community.

This will be achieved through a series of Adventure Based Learning Activities promoting Team Building, Communication and Personal Development. This programme can be run onsite at school or at various locations that would be best suited to the desired outcomes.
